LASSE AHO TO BECOME MANAGING DIRECTOR OF OLVI PLC
Mr. Lasse Aho (45), M.Soc.Sc., Tampere, has been appointed as the
new Managing Director of Olvi plc. Mr. Aho will assume his new
position as of 1 September 2004.
Among other tasks, Lasse Aho’s career includes 12 years with the
Fazer Group as Marketing Director for Fazer Biscuits Ltd. and
Sales Director for Fazer Bakeries Ltd. He served as the Managing
Director of Linkosuon Leipomo Oy from 1997 to 2000, after which he
transferred to the post of Managing Director of Metro-Auto Tampere
Oy. He will transfer to the post of Managing Director of Olvi plc
from the last-mentioned position.
Olvi plc is the only independent Finnish brewing company with
nationwide operations. Olvi plc, established in 1878, is the
parent company of the Olvi Group. Subsidiaries within the Olvi
Group engage in brewery operations in Estonia, Latvia and
Lithuania. The Group also includes the Estonian company AS Ösel
Foods, producing juices and soft drinks.
The Group's operating profit in 2003 amounted to 114.6 million
euro, and the net profit was 8.0 million euro. The Olvi Group
produced 230 million litres of beverages in 2003.
The Olvi Group employs almost 1,000 people.
